American streamer IShowSpeed enjoys one of HCMC's most expensive banh mi
Internet personality and popular streamer IShowSpeed, also known as Speed, recently explored Vietnamese cuisine by trying a banh mi at the Huynh Hoa stall in Ho Chi Minh City, one of the city's most expensive sandwich spots. During a livestream shared with his nearly 30 million YouTube subscribers, Speed toured the city after arriving late last week.
He visited key landmarks such as Ben Thanh Market, Nguyen Hue Walking Street, and Landmark 81, Vietnam's tallest building. At Huynh Hoa, a favorite banh mi destination for tourists, Speed learned how to prepare the Vietnamese sandwich. The stall is renowned for its loaded sandwiches, priced at nearly VND70,000 (US$2.87), and containing a hefty 400 grams of ingredients, including multiple types of meat, pate, butter, pickled vegetables, and more. After trying the banh mi, Speed commented, "It's fine."
Speed, whose real name is Darren Watkins Jr., is a 19-year-old streamer known for his entertaining videos and interactions with celebrities. He arrived in Vietnam on September 13 for both tourism and media engagements.
