OVs in Russia celebrate New Year 2024
Overseas Vietnamese (OVs) in Russia gathered at an art performance to welcome the year 2024 at the Russian University of Transport (MIIT) on December 24.
The event organized by the Vietnamese community in Russia, in collaboration with the Vietnamese Embassy and the Association of Vietnamese Students in the country, was a significant gathering to mark the upcoming New Year. Its primary objective was to foster solidarity among Vietnamese expatriates living, working, and studying in Russia. Minister Counselor Le Quang Anh, in his opening speech, underscored the significance of the occasion. He pointed out that the event contributes to promoting unity and cohesion within the Vietnamese community in Russia. Throughout the year 2023, the Vietnamese community in Russia has organized a range of activities, including sports tournaments, cultural programs, and charity initiatives. These endeavors reflect the active integration and engagement of the Vietnamese community in various aspects of the host society.
Anh wished overseas Vietnamese in Russia a New Year filled with health, happiness, and success. He urged them to maintain their strong sense of solidarity, support one another, and remain connected to their homeland. The Minister Counselor also acknowledged the proactive role played by the Vietnamese community in Russia and its continued efforts in building bridges between the two nations.
Tran Phu Thuan, Vice Chairman of the Vietnamese Association in Russia, emphasized the integral role of the community within the broader national unity bloc of Vietnam. He highlighted the ongoing efforts of overseas Vietnamese to overcome challenges and build a robust community. Thuan expressed the community's readiness to contribute to the development of their homeland. The event served as a platform for fostering connections, celebrating shared cultural heritage, and reinforcing the bonds that tie the Vietnamese diaspora together.
